Tory Lanez stands firm, refuses apology following conviction in Megan Thee Stallion shooting

Tory Lanez maintains his innocence in the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion. The Canadian rapper, known as Daystar Peterson, expressed his refusal to apologize for something he claims he did not do, despite receiving a 10-year prison sentence from a Los Angeles court. Lanez shared a statement on Instagram, stating that he has never allowed difficult times to intimidate him and that he will not let jail time eliminate him. He has consistently maintained his innocence and will continue to do so. Lanez admitted to taking responsibility for any verbal and intimate moments with the individuals involved in the incident, but he made it clear that he was not apologizing for the wrongful charges brought against him. He remains firm in his stance of not apologizing for something he did not do. Lanez also emphasized his determination to fight until he achieves victory, as tough times do not last, but tough people do.

The statement shared on social media contradicts Lanez’s previous remarks made during the sentencing, where he expressed his apologies for his actions. According to The New York Times, he stated that if he could turn back time, he would change the series of events that occurred that night. Lanez acknowledged that the victim was his friend, and he still cares about her deeply. He took full responsibility for everything he did wrong that night.

In December, Lanez was found guilty of three felony firearm charges, including assault, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The charges stem from an incident in July 2020, in which Stallion was shot in the foot after a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in the Hollywood Hills. Lanez faced a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison and the possibility of deportation.

Stallion previously revealed in an interview with Gayle King that an argument arose when she wanted to leave Jenner’s house, but Lanez and others refused. The situation escalated when Stallion exited the vehicle, and Lanez allegedly began shooting. She described feeling scared and hearing Lanez screaming before the gunshots. Initially, Stallion lied to the police about the incident, citing fear from the recent police killing of George Floyd.

During her testimony in December, Stallion detailed the physical and mental toll the shooting had taken on her, including experiencing suicidal thoughts. In a written statement submitted before the sentencing, she expressed that she has not had a single day of peace since the incident.

This incident has garnered significant attention and continues to unfold, provoking ongoing discussions and analysis.
